Percentage of students that were attending school at the beginning of the reporting period but dropped out during the reporting period.
IRIS metric citation
IRIS, 2016. Student Dropout Rate (PI9910). v4.0.
Organizations should footnote all assumptions used and any relevant details regarding the dropout rate.
For example, if 10 students started out in Grade Five at the beginning of the reporting period and 9 of them finish Grade Five at the end of the reporting period (meaning that 1 student dropped out), the student dropout rate is calculated as 1/10 = 10%. This metric is different from Student Transition Rate (PI4924), as Student Dropout Rate (PI9910) captures dropouts during the reporting period.
