### Footnote

Organizations should footnote all assumptions used and any relevant details regarding the dropout rate.

### Usage Guidance

• For example, if 10 students started out in Grade Five at the beginning of the reporting period and 9 of them finish Grade Five at the end of the reporting period (meaning that 1 student dropped out), the student dropout rate is calculated as 1/10 = 10%. This metric is different from Student Transition Rate (PI4924), as Student Dropout Rate (PI9910) captures dropouts during the reporting period.
