Global Impact Investing Network, September 6, 2011

This first report presents early findings from 2,394 organizations - including 1,931 microfinance institutions and 463 mission-driven organizations - that work with leading impact investment intermediaries. In addition to presenting early aggregated IRIS-aligned performance data, this report's objective is to drive widespread adoption of IRIS and to encourage impact investors, funds, and mission-driven organizations to strengthen future market intelligence by voluntarily contributing data for analysis through IRIS data collection partners.

The data aggregation and analyses in this report were made possible through data collection partnerships with the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE), Microfinance Information Exchange (MIX), and PULSE, which collectively facilitated the voluntary contribution of anonymous performance data from the 2,394 organizations receiving or seeking impact investment capital. The performance data from 1,931 microfinance organizations was contributed to the GIIN by MIX. In partnership with ANDE and PULSE, performance data from 463 portfolio organization was contributed by technical assistance provider New Ventures and the following six funds: Acumen Fund, E+Co, Grassroots Business Fund, IGNIA, Root Capital, and the Small Enterprise Assistance Funds.
