Investors in Funds

IRIS social and environmental performance reporting enables investors to more effectively evaluate and compare the composite value of investments in mission-driven funds.

The IRIS framework can be applied across sectors and geographies and gives investors a window into the performance of funds’ underlying portfolio companies in areas such as employment generation and wages, the scope and scale of environmentally superior technologies, and the reach of services to underserved individuals and communities.

Investors in funds can adopt IRIS by requesting that their investee funds report using IRIS metrics.  Some investors have begun to stipulate IRIS reporting in the terms of their investment agreements, while others have made less formal requests for IRIS performance data. Investors may choose a specific set of performance indicators that all funds must report, or they may request that fund managers track IRIS performance indicators of their own choosing.
